What it stands for

What guides the work, from Dhaka to New York

Kochi Konther Asar is one organization with two homes — founded in Bangladesh in 1976, and registered as a New York non-profit since 2000. From both, it works toward the same promise: every child empowered, protected and nurtured.

  • “Enriching Childhoods, Inspiring Futures” — the vision that guides the work worldwide
  • A confident global citizen in every child in Bangladesh — the promise made at its roots
  • Six core values, running through everything the organization does
  • One motto — “A Global Family for Children” — carried across everything it does
Vision & Mission

In its own words, from both homes

From Dhaka and from New York, Kochi Konther Asar speaks with one voice — a commitment to children that crosses every border its work does.

What it holds to

Six core values at the heart of the work

  1. Child Protection & Welfare
  2. Inclusiveness & Equal Opportunity
  3. Education for All
  4. Creativity & Innovation
  5. Transparency & Accountability
  6. Sustainable Development

These six values run through everything the organization does — from classrooms and clinics to choirs and festival stages — and everyone who carries its name holds themselves to them.

The motto

A Global Family for Children

Founded in Dhaka, registered in New York

Kochi Konther Asar is one organization with two homes — Dhaka, where it was founded in 1976, and New York, where it has been registered as a non-profit since 2000. Its purpose is stated from both, in words shaped by the country each statement was written in and the communities it serves.

Its vision looks outward, to childhood enriched and protected everywhere; its mission works homeward, giving every child in Bangladesh the knowledge, creativity and opportunity to become a confident global citizen. Two vantage points, one commitment — children first.

Shared purpose

Different rooms, the same horizon

The vision looks outward, to a world where every child is empowered, protected and nurtured — and homeward, to a confident global citizen in every child in Bangladesh. The words were written in different rooms, but they face the same horizon, and the six core values hold them together. Wherever the work happens, the promise reads the same: children first — enriched childhoods, inspired futures, and a global family that leaves no child behind.
