Children Learning
The courses run for children — art and music, computer literacy and English — and the schools and academy that stand alongside them.
Volunteers carry a great deal of Kochi Konther Asar’s work with children, and good preparation is what lets them give their best. Here is how new volunteers are made ready for their roles — what the training covers, how it is delivered, and how to take the first step.
Every volunteer who joins Kochi Konther Asar begins with an introduction to the organization — its history, its values, and the standards it keeps in all of its work with children. Whatever role you take on, you will not be asked to start it unprepared.
Training follows the shape of the work itself: how the organization serves children, how volunteers fit into that work, and the practical knowledge each role calls for — from safeguarding basics to the everyday routines of the team you join.
The organization recruits volunteers for helpline advice, fundraising coordination, special events, and administrative support, and each role has its own objectives — what a new volunteer should know, and be able to do with confidence, before taking it on.
Preparation is part of volunteering with us, not an extra. Some roles ask more of a volunteer than others, and the depth of the training follows the demands of the role — we will tell you what yours involves before you begin.
Sessions are kept practical and personal, led by the people who know the work best. Tell us where you are and how you prefer to learn when you get in touch, and we will find the format that suits you.
Training is led by experienced staff and long-serving volunteers — people who have done the work they are preparing you for, and who stay on hand as mentors once you have started.
The preparation you complete is yours to build on, and we are glad to confirm it for you. If you need your training acknowledged — for study, for work, or for another organization — ask us and we will tell you what we can provide.
Volunteering should never be out of reach. We will be clear with you about any costs before you commit to anything, and we work to keep the path into volunteering as open as we can.
Training is arranged around the work and around the volunteers who join it. When you register your interest through the contact page, tell us where you are and we will let you know what is available near you.
Kochi Konther Asar has worked in Bangladesh since 1976 and in the United States since 2000, and it welcomes volunteers in both. Wherever you join from, the same care goes into preparing you for the role you take on.
