    Kochi Kontho Tarar Mela 2026

    The organization plans a seven-day national talent festival to mark its fiftieth anniversary, at Bangladesh Shishu Academy in Dhaka. It is planned in two phases: a district-level talent hunt from 1 to 10 December 2026, and the main festival from 15 to 21 December 2026.

    The three competitions

    The Art Competition takes the theme “My Dream Bangladesh”, in two age groups — 8 to 11 years and 12 to 16. It will bring together 25,000 participants, with 256 nominees and six awards.

    What the winners will receive

    Prizes in each competition pair recognition with a financial or experiential award: first place an educational tour to Malaysia, second place a one-time scholarship of 30,000 taka, and third place a one-time scholarship of 20,000 taka.

    How the entries will be judged

    Each of the three competitions will be judged by a jury board, against five criteria: relevance, creativity, presentation, technical quality, and the social message the entry carries.

    The festival will produce a Golden Jubilee Publication — a 2026 special edition documenting it, and marking the organization’s fifty years.

    The organization marks World Children’s Day annually, celebrating children’s potential and advocating for their welfare.

    Two events from the organization’s history

    In April 1990 Kochi Konther Asar represented Bangladesh as a children’s cultural team at the 12th International Children’s Festival in Ankara, Turkey, held from the 16th to the 27th.
