What the support looks like

The photographs alongside them are from the organization’s archive, they show none of the children described, and the years beneath them are illustrative rather than a record of when each was taken.

    She came to Shishu Nibash, the organization’s children’s home, as a seven-year-old with little more than a school bag to her name. What she found there was steady meals, a bed of her own, and teachers who would not let her fall behind. Now fourteen, she is thriving at school — and the first to raise her hand when a song is called for.

    Through the SUCCESS Program she was matched with a mentor who noticed two things at once: a quick mind, and feet that would not stay still. With her schooling, meals and clothing looked after, her family could let her keep both. She studies hard, dances harder, and the shy girl who first arrived is gone for good.

    Regular check-ups and help with his schooling sound like small things, but for one nine-year-old in Sylhet they changed everything. Healthy, back in class and keeping pace with his friends, he now tells anyone who asks that he means to become a teacher himself.

Consent

No entry on this page is a real child’s story, so nothing here rests on a family’s consent. Before a real one appears, written consent to publish it has to be recorded against it, together with the date it was given.

Safeguarding

What may be published about a child is the organization’s own child protection policy to decide, and this site does not yet hold it. Until it does, no entry here describes an individual child, and no photograph here shows a child described beside it.

How a story comes to be shared

A real story replaces one of the entries above rather than being added beneath them, so the register does not grow into a list of examples with one real life buried in it. Nothing on this page has come that way yet.
