    A student from Rangpur

    She came to Shishu Nibash, the organization’s children’s home, as a seven-year-old with little more than a school bag to her name. What she found there was steady meals, a bed of her own, and teachers who would not let her fall behind. Now fourteen, she is thriving at school — and the first to raise her hand when a song is called for.

With her schooling, meals and clothing looked after, her family could let her keep both. She studies hard, dances harder, and the shy girl who first arrived is gone for good.

Names, places and identifying details are changed or withheld, and every story is reviewed against the organization’s commitment to child protection before it appears.

How a story comes to be shared

Stories come through the people who know each child best — teachers, caregivers and the organization’s own workers — and are written up with the family before they are shared.
